Information about the chihuahua

Chihuahuas are a breed of dog originating in Mexico and are now spread around the world and are now known for being the smallest breed of dog in the world. They were first found in 1850 in small numbers and are now a very popular breed of dog.

Chihuahuas do have a tendency to be aggressive and snappy towards people, especially when they are scared or surrounded. They are known as aggressive dogs, they will often snap at people if they are in a bad mood. They may also be aggressive towards other dogs, no matter what size they are.

The two types of Chihuahuas are long-haired and short-haired Chihuahuas. They are very similar and the only different is their coat hair length. They are often born from the same parent dogs and even in the same litter of puppies.

The hair length of them is the only different, but many competitions, shows and other organizations put them into different groups. Chihuahuas are very small dogs, the smallest in the world in fact. They are normally between 13 and 24cm tall but their height can vary a lot. Chihuahuas can also often weigh between 2 and 5kg.

Chihuahuas are a breed of dog that requires a very large amount of medical attention. Chihuahuas have lots of difficulties; they often have bad teeth and can put on weight rapidly.

They do not control how much they eat so can put on weight if given too much to eat.

Chihuahuas often suffer from diseases that can threaten their lives such as Hydrocephalus and Moleras.

Chihuahuas are often prone to wheezing and snoring which is a direct result of breathing problems through their noses. If you Chihuahua is wheezing or snoring or having breathing problems whilst asleep then you should move the position of its head and make sure its nose is in the open.

Chihuahuas may be small but they need to be active. You should take them for a walk at least once a day and if you can it is best to let them free to look about in a safe place. If you don’t bring your Chihuahua for a walk then it may make its aggression and its health problems worse.

Chihuahuas live for a long time in good health. If you have a health Chihuahua then don’t be surprised if it lives for over 15 years but please be aware if your Chihuahua is overweight then it will not live for as long, the same applies to Chihuahuas with other heath conditions.
