How should you prepare your raw meat dog food
Raw food diets for dogs can be prepared in many different ways, but most of the ingredients between individual diets are the same. The following is a basic primer on all that should be included in a raw dog food diet in order to provide all of the necessary nutrition for your beloved pet.
Meat: At least fifty percent of your raw dog food diet should be comprised of fresh, raw meat. The biggest importance when it comes to raw food diets is that none of the ingredients should be cooked. If you feel more comfortable cooking your dog’s food at first, feel free, but you should cook as little as possible until you feel completely comfortable feeding raw food to your dog. You should try feeding different kinds of raw meet, including venison, turkey, duck, lamb and beef. You can try serving the same type of meet every day for several days before switching the type of meat, in order to avoid hypersensitivities from steadily feeding the same foods over and over.
Side Dishes: Oats help dogs digest their food more completely, so consider adding them to your raw food diet menu in order to ensure a balanced diet. You can cover these oats with water that is boiling for around 20 minutes in order to soften them. Other good additives for your dog’s raw food diet include mashed potatoes, brown rice and noodles.
Vegetables and Fruits: For a serious boost in Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, G, K, Calcium and Potassium, add carrots to your dog’s raw food diet every single day. You may also consider adding fresh parsley to help with metabolizing oxygen, and to help heal genitor-urinary tract issues and the thyroid and adrenal glands. Celery is a great addition to your dog’s raw food diet because it contains organic sodium and is a natural diuretic. Natural diuretics are great for arthritis, urinary problems and water retention problems. Some other raw fruits and vegetables worth adding are garlic, watercress, paprika, alfalfa sprouts, corn, zucchini, banana, mango and apple.
Raw green and yellow foods: These foods are great toxin relievers, so should be added to your dog’s raw food diet as often as possible. A great addition is watermelon, which is one of the best scavengers for free radicals.
Tofu: Tofu is another great addition, because it is a great source of organic protein.
Every so often, you may consider adding: Cheese cubes, boiled egg or plain yogurt are all great additions to your dog’s raw food diet, but they should be added sparingly. Ideally, you only want to add these ingredients once per week at most.
Putting all of the ingredients together is easy. Simply mix them together with about a half cup of warm water in a blender. Make sure to include fruits and vegetables in order to prove your dog with all of the enzymes, vitamins and minerals that he or she needs.
Things to avoid: Avoid giving beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and turnips to your dog because they can cause gas issues in the intestinal tract. You should also avoid cucumbers, onions, peppers, sambal, spinach and tomato because they do not digest very well in dogs.
