Can Dogs Eat Apple Pie?

Dogs Can Eat Apple Pie!

You may be wondering if it’s safe for your dog to eat apple pie. Fortunately for you and your dog, in moderate amounts apple pie is perfectly safe, and of course tasty!

Apple pie is a pie packed with fruit, with that fruit mainly being apples. Some people may place a dollop of whipped cream on top, or a scoop of ice cream, or even a slice of cheddar cheese. A top and bottom crust is made using pastry dough, with the tops having a lattice style, or full cover with tiny cuts for the steam to get out.

The apples in apple pie are of course full of healthy things like calcium, Vitamin K, vitamin C, and pectin. Unfortunately apple pies are also full of unhealthy things like sugar, butter and cream. Because of this apple pie is only ok for dogs in moderation, just like for you and I! (more information on apples can be found at Can Dogs Eat Apples?)

Some times when you get an apple pie from a grocery store or bakery, they may add some ingredients that aren’t safe for your dog, like raisins. Unless you make the pie at home and are aware of what ingredients have been used, be sure to check and make certain no ingredients have been added that could be harmful to your pooch before giving them this tasty treat.
