Common mistakes made by chihuahua owners
With Chihuahuas being the breed of choice by many, it is important to fully understant them. In this article I will explain the most common mistakes made by Chihuahua owners.
As you probably know by now, Chihuahuas are small. They are, in fact, the smallest breed in the world, and unfortunately they can injure easily from children stepping on them, or just being rough. Many Chihuahua owners who have children in the house, do not fully understand this, which leads to their Chihuahua being injured. Chihuahuas are not a good choice for homes with small children in them, they are too small, and can have a “snappy” attitude when provoked.
Many Chihuahua owners are misinformed on how to discipline their Chihuahuas. You should never, under any circumstance, hit or even yell at your Chihuahua. Doing so will only make it harder to train your Chihuahua. Simply speak a command such as “Bad”, or “No”. I know it’s easy to get aggravated with your Chihuahua, but refrain from hitting them.
Chihuahuas need extra time to potty-train. Most Chihuahua owners don’t realize that they will need to spend extra time and attention to get their Chihuahua potty-trained. Chihuahuas are smart, but their “stubborn” temperament makes them difficult to potty-train at times. However, being patient and consistent will help guarantee your Chihuahuas success.
Even though Chihuahuas are so tiny, they still need outside exercise. Many Chihuahua owners think they can keep their Chihuahuas locked up their home or apartment all day. This is far from the truth. Chihuahuas need outside exercise to remain healthy and fit.
